Tonight after dinner we headed over to Meme and Papa's to try and figure out why Papa's new computer wasn't able to get ont he Internet. Andrew eventually figured it out after talking to the internet provider. In the meantime the Boys were being the usually Silly Boys they are. We almost always have our camera but almost always forget to grab some pictures. Logan enjoyed snuggling with Papa but decided to make the photo op look otherwise.
Daniel enjoyed some snuggle time wtih Meme. We brought the Boys PJ's so they could head straight to bed when we got home.
Glad to get Papa's computer back on track for him and the Boys enjoyed trying to consume mass quantities of Meme's apple juice and pretzels.
Today is Father's Day! We had Andrew's Parents over for breakfast and the kids had a blast with them. After breakfast we packed up to go to Goodberrys for some ice cream. Aidan called it, "The Ice Cream Factory." He was thrilled to see his Cousins two days in a row. They had a blast running around. It was a bit humid but they had fun. We then headed home for naptime.
We stopped at my Parent's house today for lunch. Melanie and Gavin were in Hilton Head for the weekend and my Parents were baby sitting. Ansley helped feed Daniel his peas and rice cereal. She did an awesome job! You wouldn't have guessed it was her first time feeding a baby! We grabbed a little video too.
Logan Joseph always must have shoes on. It is one of the few words he says, "SHOE!" or "SHOOSA!" A shoe will almost always get him to inteact with you. Today he figured out how to put one on by himself! (OK, well he does wear our shoes sometimes but the first time he has attempted and succeeded on putting on a shoe of his!) This is something quite amazing for Logan to do! I know we are bias but we find him full of perfectly pint sized cuteness!
Daniel is an "average" sized baby compared to Aidan and Logan. He is a sweet little one. His face lights up when he sees people and he has the sweetest smile. He loves to "talk", squeal and laugh. He is a master of trying to get your attention. If Aidan and Logan play near him he is over the moon.
He gets up on all fours and rocks. He mostly spends his time doing yoga poses, he is a fan of the plank and downward facing dog. He is trying to crawl much earlier than the other two but the progression to crawling seems to be slower. I am figuring it is because he is a bit younger than the other two. He sits up straight for a good period of time now and recently just started screaming when he wants to be sitting up. Which is now most of the time!
He has one tooth right now and drooling like a monster. His tummy still seems a bit sensitive and a new food will cause mass quantities of reflux. He now has eczema on his face also. Poor Kiddo can't seem to get a break.
He had a little reaction to his vaccines. The injection sites were red and raised and a welt appeared in between them. His leg was tender for a few days. This is the first time we have experienced something like this. Luckily it was pretty mild.
It is hard to believe he is halfway to his First Birthday. The last 6 months have most definitely been challenging and long but we are not sure how we got here so fast!
So, I don't have as many pictures as I would have liked. It was difficult to take pictures while pushing a stroller in a crowd.
This is something we have wanted to do for quite a while. This year we had yet another reason to participate. I want to give a HUGE "THANK YOU!!" to everyone that supported our team. Unfortunately, quite a bit of our team was not able to make. So Mom, Garreth, Aidan and I went on out with the masses to walk for a wonderful cause.
This years Race for the Cure was the 15th one for our area. It was amazing the numbers of people who came out and we were doing the later race. They hold two separate 5 K's. It is around a local college and the neighborhoods we walk/run through are amazing. The support they give is unbelievable. People have signs in their yards if they are survivors and for how long. Neighbors sit in their chairs in their yards/porches and cheer on the participants. They have sprinklers out, hoses, misting tents/tunnels/crazy self made contraptions. They blast music from their houses. Another local college had an acapella group singing on the side by a church. It was just amazing to see all the support. Their was an street where they had all their city trash cans out and they were these all over and people were using them to hold posters. It was just an amazing experience.
This is something we hope to make a tradition of in honor of all people affected by breast cancer.
Grandma Prickett was diagnosed with breast cancer my freshman year of college. She was very lucky she was in her 70's. Also her cancer was encapsulated so it was easy to remove and no radiation or chemo was necessary. She did have a rough recovery and scared us a few times with some infections. She is now 80 and doing well but does have lymph edema in her arm where her lymph nodes were removed.
Cousin Jenny, she is still fighting her fight for over 10 years. She is a crazy wild vibrant person and a heck of a fighter. I can't tell you all of the details of her journey however, currently she currently suffering from lymphangiosarcoma. She will be making a trip to NC to meet with Doctors at Duke to hopefully find some help with her situation. Please pray for her and her daughters. Jenny has the breast cancer gene and has gone through quite a lot.
Aunt Connie was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2010. After a lot of chemo, radiation and surgery she is trying to get back to feeling like herself and spending her time watching her sons play baseball. She had a tough journey over the last year. We missed seeing her at all the family functions. It was so nice to be able to have Christmas with her last year. Please pray that she continues to heal and stay cancer free.
There is one other person that I have no picture of. My Great Grandmother Prickett ( although she remarried and had a different last name.) We called her Bong. Yeah, yeah, laugh if you want but she was one tough cookie. I only know stories and have very vague memories because she passed away right before I turned 3. She was a later in life breast cancer survivor. I most certainly know no other details than that. She passed away in 1985 but not from cancer. I do not have any pictures of her but my Mom and Grandparents do. She was always special to me. Funny, that I only knew here for just under 3 years.
Hopefully, this list does not grow and that a cure will be found to help all women who fight the battle.
Grandpop's Birthday isn't until tomorrow however, they came over tonight and brought pizza. Aidan decided we needed cake! The executive decision was made for Birthday Cake for Grandpop! Why not?! Birthdays are meant to be celebrated! Logan enjoyed sharing cake with Grandpop and apparently the trick for Logan to eat the actual cake part is...toothpicks! Yes, the "utensil" of choice to eat food is a toothpick.
Andrew was home with us today. In his downtime he got to play with DHR. The Boys have a pair of goofy sunglasses (that I got from my friends for my 18th birthday...yeah..scary...I was a goof.) that they like to wear. Andrew decided to see how DHR looked in them. What do you think?!
Logan has started seeing a speech pathologist/feeding therapist to try and make some things easier around here. Long story short he is talking as if he was the age of 12-15 months. He is quite frustrated. His therapist told us about "behavior modification" technique to feeding therapy...fancy way of saying bribery. She will tell us our plan next week however, Andrew started his own therapy. Right now for getting Logan to eat a meal...the idea she told us is to find something he likes and request he eat and he can play with a certain toy for 20-30 seconds and then need to "eat" more. Logan LOVES Angry Birds...Logan was too busy to eat tonight so Andrew tried to get him to eat some banana with Angry Bird Motivation. As you will see...Logan made sure he had his mouth full so we could play while he took forever to chew. :-)
Logan comes out of his little shell every so often. The other day I got a clip of him getting excited and copying what the characters on Sesame Street were doing during the opening credits. It doesn't happen a lot but you get to see Silly Logan for who he is.
I was hoping he may try and sing or say something..unfortunately he didn't this time.
DHR is teething something fierce. I thought he might enjoy a ice cold cup of water with a splash of pear. He seemed to like how it felt on his gums and while I was busy in the kitchen decided to try and take matters into his own hands.
Andrew was feeding Daniel his morning bottle. Daniel ate what he wanted and then decided it was more important to push up to sitting to see what Aidan and Logan were doing.
Since he was two months old or even younger Daniel is trying to see what is going on. I think it is part curiosity for his Big Brothers doings and part to do with is reflux. He has never been a fan of cradling unless he is just about to fall asleep. I think he is most comfortable as upright as he can get and then of course he doesn't miss any of the action.
Daniel was sleepy and fussy. I put him in his crib (which is naps in a bit) and he screamed. I tried to let him "cry it out", no such luck. I put him in our bed so he can lay by me while I folded. Before I could sit on the bed to fold the clothes this Kiddo zonked out. Silly Boy!
