Daniel is a SUPER happy baby. We are guessing he is making up for the screaming he did the first 8 weeks of his life. I guess you have to be super happy after 8 weeks of excruciating gas, belly, acid reflux and constipation pain. Eliminating lactose helped a TON and an acid reducer has helped too. We've tried reducing his dose of meds to see if he still needs it (ie: doing it by way of "weening") yeah..he needs it. He still pukes a lot although it doesn't cover as much distance as it used to. He spits up a lot too. He if gets too talkative/excited he pukes...not spit up...a load of milk comes back up. It's rarely a sour milk spit up. Every so often when he spits it is our. Most of the time it comes up not long after feeding and even it has been an hour it still isn't sour. Definitely strange. Babies at this stage consume on average 2.-2.5 oz (for D's weight that would be 32-40 oz a day) of formula per pound of body weight. Daniel however ranges from 20-25 oz a day. The Dr. says even 30 oz a day is "normal." Every couple of weeks he will have one day that he eats 28 ounces and then the next day he doesn't eat much. The Dr. isn't too concerned about the puking and low amount of formula intake. He shows no signs of dehydration and has the rolls/creases of a happy healthy baby.
Daniel also has a cough. It started when he had RSV and then stopped. A month and half ago or so it started again. No fever, no blue spells just a nasty sounding cough that sends his pacifier and drool shooting a good 2.5-3 feet away from him. He also seems to rattle. The Dr. said his lungs are crystal that it is more than likely phlegm in his throat. No runny nose unless he coughs or pukes too much then his eyes water and his nose runs. (just like anyone else would in that situation.) His hands and feet are also constantly sweaty and this kid could heat a small home.
He definitely is an odd baby compared to what we are "used to." Every day is a learning experience to say the least. He is always kicking and wiggling. He has rolled from tummy to back a few times and with purpose. He spends a good bit of time rolling from his back to his side but will keep himself from going all the way. If you put him on the floor he will spin 180 degrees and move 2 or more feet from where I put him down. He also doesn't like to be cradled, he will fuss and pull himself to a supported sitting position. He lights up and squeals at his Big Brothers. He will do a fake cough to get your attention but it is easy to distinguish this attention call from the hacking.
He likes to fit right in with the everyday chaos of our home. I can't believe we are 1/3 of the way to his first birthday! Yikes!
