The Cake

Yesterday was the Big Family Party. We had mostly family and some good friends over. I think all the kids had a blast. It was cloudy and rainy in the morning but the sun came out right before the party. Even though the yard was nasty the kids got to play outside. What's a little dirt gonna hurt?! We actually got the bumper pool table ready to go (with new not dry rotted bumpers) so the older kids could hang out in the semi-messy garage and do something more fun. We utilized most of our downstairs/outside areas. Logan ended up sitting in a puddle so his birthday clothes were out before the end of the party. His new shoes...yeah...not so new now! But, really what's the point in keeping them pretty and shiny...we bought them to be worn and worn well!!
Here is a cheesy music slide show of all the pictures snapped. Mr. R took 90% of them...5% Andrew and 5% Kate.
Today we made it to the pediatrician's office for Logan's 2 year check up!
Logan did well! He did not mind the Doctor at all. We did express some concern that the child rarely speaks. We have seen him do it but he prefers not and when he is a chatty man it's a language we can decipher. The bottom line is we will really push him talking (fun though...) and if in 4 weeks he has not really picked up then we will get him evaluated for a speech delay and therapy.
As we have read a bit more on speech delays. It seems concern should come more closer to 2.5 and minimal speech. In actuality speech delays are "normal" for preemie's (now he was induced at 37 weeks but deemed a preemie due to his size) and also for low birth weight babies. Our Little Bit started out at 5lb 3 oz and shrank to 4 lb 12 oz. So, it seems his reluctance for speech is what should be expected and to not judge their abilities by birth date but by due date. (We have seen this before with him...3 weeks after he "should" be doing something he starts to! (UPDATE: The next day while playing with Logan he counted pegs on one of his toys and counted all 8 of them and then counted from 1-10, he then also told me correct colors of the 4 balls he was playing with. As we felt, it is all there he just doesn't feel the need to share the info with us. :-) )
Our Little Bits Stats at 2 years are:
Height: 34.25 in (40%)
Weight: 23 lbs (3%)
Head: 90%
We are pleased with how is he has grown. He is a thin one however, at 18 months he was less than 3% for weight. Logey Joe has "bulked up" a bit. ;-)
So we'll see where he is in 3 weeks...no complaints here! He is a happy healthy smart Little Bit!
Can't believe you are two our Precious Little Bit!!
