Busy Week

First off, "Happy Birthday Dad/Dan!"

June and July are full of Birthdays. It gets a little hectic.

Let's see. Aidan began potty training today. We did a half day yesterday and finished the day off at Carrie's Sister's house to celebrate Ansley's latest dance recital. Today we began full force potty training. Yesterday was better than today. The power struggle was tough. He knows what he is doing just needs to want to make the time to stop and take care of it. He has done well enough but we got a little more resistance today with wanting to take a potty break.

Potty training is a good distraction. The days are counting down until Roxy's surgery. She has a torn cranial cruciate ligament in her left knee. We have known she has bad hips, elbows and a subluxating knee cap. However, she has had xrays it turns out her hips are as the vet said, "Bad does not describe how horribly bad they are. I am amazed she can stand let alone run around like she does." However, since she is fully functional with her bad hips they are not clinical or a worry at this time. If we do not fix her knee then our freshly turned 5 year old girl will put undo stress on her "good" hip. So, we feel we have no choice but to fix her. Right now every step she takes her left shin bone continues to move forward creating a horribly unstable knee. She is a good candidate for "TPLO" surgery. Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, meaning they are going to descrease the angle of her tibial plateau (top of her shin bone) my sawing into her bone and readjusting the angle and securing with a metal plate. She will be confined to a crate and cannot go potty on her own for 8 weeks. That is 8 weeks of leashed potty breaks. Until the osteotomy is healed she cannot have any unsupervised activity. YIKES!!! Right now she hobbles around with a lame rear left leg. She is miserable and we can't have her miserable with two babies running around and add a third to the mix.

The potty training is posing for a good distraction for sure! Roxy also will need us to perform PT for the next at least 8 weeks also. She is scheduled for surgery Wednesday morning and will not come home until Friday.
